I have a new aluminum arbor on my patio. I want to start a hummingbird vine on the posts. What do I use for the vine to cling to as it grows. My posts are 6 3/4 x 82 ". |
If you can get the first few vines to remain upright, the subsequent vines will cling each other. You can use green twine or plastic coated green wire to provide a grabbing spot for your vines. Encircle the arbor supports with string or wire every 6", tying it as tightly as you can. Begin training the shoots as soon as they reach the support, coaxing them around the arbor as they grow. Eventually the new shoots will scramble over one another, twine around, and hold each other up. |
