Today I recieved plants I ordered by mail. Among my order were a half dozen hostas, which I assumed would be plants. Instead were 6 bundles of roots. I have no idea how to plant these. Okay, stop laughing....can you help me out? Thanks,

It can be sort of a shock when you aren't used to it! Your hostas were sent to you in bareroot form. Essentially what you have is a dormant plant that has lost its leaves, just as they will in your autumn garden. Not to worry - new leaves will appear soon after planting. Hostas prefer moist soil with a pH level of 5.5 to 7.0 and will thrive in shady or partly shady spots. Plant roots 3 to 5 inches deep.
