During the winter, your boxwood doesn't need any particular attention. Just make sure that the shrub has plenty of water before winter sets in.Don't worry if your boxwood's leaves turned an off-color (bronze, purple, red) during the winter -- this is normal. But if your boxwood has actually suffered leaf scorch, it may not have had enough moisture to get it through the winter, especially if it's growing on a site that receives a lot of drying winter winds. If this is the case, next fall you can wrap it with burlap or spray it with an antitranspirant (a coating that prevents leaves from drying out). You can also water shrubs during winter thaws to further protect them from drying.

You can read more about the symptoms of leaf scorch at, and that should help you determine if your shrub was indeed damaged over the winter.

I hope this helps!
