|My butterfly bush was just recently planted and in it's dormant state. The main part of the plant was broken off at the base with only an inch above the ground. Will this survive? I haven't seen any growth in the plant at all. If it does survive this when should I see the growth start?

|Butterfly bushes tend to emerge very late in the spring when they have been purposely pruned short as can be done for controlling size or in the event of severe winter damage. At this point, since it is newly planted, you might be very patient with it and allow about six weeks or so to see if it can garner enough strength to resprout from the roots. Once it begins to grow the rate is very fast.
