| I have a Lilac tree/bush I planted about 3 or 4 years ago. It is growing fine and getting bigger every year but has never flowered. What can I do to get it to flower?
|Lilacs do best in full sun with an average to rich soil. The most common reasons for lack of bloom are insufficient sunlight and pruning at the wrong time of year. Lilacs bloom on wood that grew the year before, so do not prune them except in late spring right after the bloom period in your area. To encourage good growth you could apply compost and/or a complete granular fertilizer such as 10-10-10 in spring per the label instructions. Some young plants simply take their time in blooming. Maybe this will be the year.|
