I just bought a Weigela 'Minuet.' I would like to know if I can grow it on a container, instead of planting it into the ground. Also which potting medium would be the most appropiate, if the option of potting it is feasible.

You can grow it in a larger container, but to ensure root hardiness you will need to insulate the roots during the winter one way or another. You could plant the shrub in the ground for the winter and repot it in the spring, or you might be able to insulate the pot to protect the roots from both cold and the temperature swings. A good quality soilless potting mix, possibly with a water holding polymer added and a bit of compost, should do the job. Be sure to follow a regular fertilization and watering schedule as well.
