I purchased red mulch to use with my tomatoes. How do I use it? Do I lay it on the soil and cut holes in it for the plants? How does water get through the mulch?

You can lay the mulch all along a row of tomato plants, or you can cut large pieces to place directly below each plant. If you decide to use it in one long piece, lay the mulch and then cut slashes for each plant. Leave a few inches of bare soil around the stem of each plant, then apply water to the bare soil. The object of the mulch material is to reflect far-red light rays to the bottoms of the leaves. The mulch does not have to be hugging the plant stem in order to perform its magic.
