Can you grow mandevilla x amabilis inside? If you put them outside in a container when should you prune them and bring them in for the winter?

Mandevilla is a great container plant and can be set outside on warm sunny days and then at night as well when the nights are reliably above fifty degrees. In the fall, if you want the plant to continue blooming indoors, you need to protect it from night temperaturs below fifty degrees. When you bring it in, provide as bright a light as possible in order to keep the plant in active growth. If the indoor light is insufficient, the plant may begin to defoliate. If this happens, cut back on the watering and keep the plant somewhat cool to allow it to rest. In spring, trim it back and resume regular watering and fertilizing as it begins to come back into growth.
