|How do I care for my Delphiniums, i.e., where do I put them in sun or shade, how often do I water them, & fertilize them? They are large at this time about 3ft. tall. Should I repot and should I seperate them or leave them together?
Thank you for your help.
|Some delphiniums can reach statuesque proportions and may need to be staked. They can be grown in containers (which is what sounds like you're doing), but will be much happier in the ground where their roots can explore and help anchor the plants. Delphiniums are easy to care for; fertilize in the early spring; water well throughout the growing season; remove faded blooms immediately; and fertilize once again. When new growth reaches 9", cut off old growth completely. They'll grow in full sun to light shade, in deep, rich, well draining soil. You can divide plants in the spring, but they look much more dramatic if allowed to form masses.|
