Please tell me the best time to trim the lower branches
of a maple tree?

It depends on the age of the tree. Newly transplanted trees should not be trimmed until they have been in the ground for at least one and preferably two years. The lower branches help the trunk to develop girth and stability. Their leaves are photosynthesizing, providing nutrients for the tree to grow. If it is a mature tree, the best time to prune is late winter/early spring just before new growth starts so you can see the branch structure.
