|I bought a Hesperaloe Parviflora or Red Yucca Firescaping Plant recently. When I purchased it, it had and still has, one dead stem sticking up out of the middle from where it had already bloomed and died off. My question is, should I remove it for any new growth to appear?
|In general, it is a good idea to remove any dead material from a plant by trimming it away neatly. As a rule yuccas will bloom and then the center will die out, with the new growth (pups) coming on around the exterior to relenish the plant. Be careful not to damage the pups when removing any faded material from the center of the plant.
