After Planting my garden and labeling each and every plant last year. I noticed this year that "ALL" my labels were gone/missing. I have 2 very young (2&4 yrs old) neighbor boys next door who I think pulled up the labels. Now I have plants that I have no idea if they are Flowers or Herbs or Both. My garden is doing quite well and I don't want to have to pull up all the mystery plants but I can't leave them as they are because I don't want my 2 young neighbors to get sick from eating an unknown plant. My question is: Is there a website where I can find "Large Photos/Images of Perinnel Foliage "AND" blooms to help Identify my Plants?" I am disabled and can't drive to a local nursery to have them identify my mystery plants. |
The best way I know of to find a variety of images of a given plant is to use a good search enging such as google and search using the Latin name for the plant. This usually brings up results fairly quickly, especially with perennials. With herbs, you may also need to add the term culture to avoid bringing up other types of results. In the meantime, I would strongly suggest you work with those children and their respobsible adult(s) to teach them that they are NEVER to eat any plant without an adult being with them and saying it is ok. There are just too many look-alike plants and too many commonly grown plants that are toxic to allow them to think they may nibble on whatever strikes their fancy. This is also true of houseplants. I am sorry about the tag mixup but things will sort themselves out soon as they come into bloom. |
