I think that I am the cause of my weed problems. I really like a short lawn that looks well trimmed. Is that good for the lawn, or does that hurt it?

Experts recommend mowing at the heightest recommended height for your variety of grass. It is also advised to remove no more than one-third of the blade at each mowing. Removing more stresses the plant as it loses tissue for photosynthesis and inhibits root growth. Also, maintaining a dense, thick cover reduces many weed problems.
