What type of annual flowers would do well around the base of a Willow Tree? I have tulips around it now and they do fairly well. When they have died back I would like to put some colorful flowers around it. I have tried some common flowers like marigolds and impatiens but they don't seem to do well. |
A willow tree tends to have many thirsty roots and this makes it hard to garden underneath one. You might try putting the annuals you like in a large container such as a half barrel planter and enjoy them there. The tulips (and other spring bulbs) are less likely to mind the willow roots because they are planted deeply and require good drainage during the dormant season. |
