|I have problems starting following seeds:|
Need your advice!
|Let's begin with some seed starting basics. In order to germinate, seeds need moisture, oxygen and favorable temperatures. Some seeds require darkness and others require light to germinate. All seeds need to be planted at just the right depth - too deep and the seed will run out of stored energy before the sprout can reach the soil surface. Too shallow and the root can push the seed right out of the soil. Zinnia seeds should be sown on the surface of moistened seed starting mix and just barely covered. Seeds will take 5-24 days to sprout, when kepts at 70F-80F. Begonia seeds should be started indoors 3-4 months before you plan to set them outdoors. Sow seeds on the surface of moistened seed starting mix but do not cover. Keep growing medium evenly moist but not soggy wet. Germination will take 15-60 days when seed trays are kept at 65F-75F. Vinca (Catharanthus) seeds should be planted 1/4" deep in moistened seed starting mix. (They require darkness.) Seeds will germinate in 15-20 days when kept at 70-F-75F.|
