Evergreen varieties should be moved in the spring, deciduous varieties could be moved in the spring or early fall. Very early spring is best, although I have also had good luck moving them right after they bloom. Be sure to water the plant well the day before, take as many roots as possible, trim back the top to compensate for root loss, replant immediately at the same depth as it grew before into prepared, acidic, humusy, evenly moist but well drained soil, then mulch well and water as needed to keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy until reestablished.
