The Latin genus for wallflower is Erysimum and there are several species within that genus with varying characteristics. They take full sun or light shade and moderate water. They can be perennials or biennials and some are grown as annuals. They often self-sow if left to go to seed. Perennial clumps can be divided in fall as needed. There are many flower colors including yellow, orange, red, cream, burgundy and some may have veins of contrasting colors. Plant size varies depending on species from 1-3 feet tall.
