Having just purchased a half dozen 6' tall Monterey Bay Brush Cherry bushes to create a hedge barrier, a neighbor informed me that I could run in a problem with a specific pest that attacks this plant, and there is no pesticide that she's ever found to protect the plant prior to attack, or kill the pest after the attack.

Can you shed any light on this? I've made a substantial investment, they look great where they are now, but I'm concerned about coming up with a plan to keep them healthy.

Your brush cherry is Eugenia, and I can find no reference to insect or disease problems other than fungal leaf spots. This is not a fatal disease. If it shows up, prune away the infected leaves. Relax and enjoy your new plants!
