|What time of the year is the best time to plant bulbs in my area and do they have to be dug up yearly?
|For your climate, I would recommend the summer-flowering bulbs, which do not require a chilling treatment. (Tulips and daffodils and many other spring-flowering bulbs need to be dug up every year and stored in a cool location for at least 12 weeks beforereplanting in the fall.) Lilies and Acidantheras are wonderfully fragrant. Ranunculus, Sprekelia, Tigridia, Canna, dahlia, and gladious are some other good choices. These bulbs are planted in the spring.
