I have no fruit on my one and only greengage tree. What should I do Thank you Louise Blake |
Green Gage plum is self-fruitful, so having only one tree should not affect fruit production. What will cause poor fruiting includes immaturity (some trees just have to grow older before they're able to set fruit), lack of sufficient sunshine, poor pruning practices (accidentally cutting off fruiting branches), too much nitrogen fertilizer, a late cold snap, or water stress. If your tree is not flowering at all, it could be due to weather, age, or poor pruning. If it is flowering but not setting fruit, it could be due to a cold snap, poor pollination (lack of insect activity). You'll need to decide which of the above might apply to your tree in order to correct the problem. Good luck with your plum! |
