|I have been told that pouring dissolved epsom salt on or around my peppers will help produce thicker peppers or more plentiful harvests. Could you tell me what benefit if any this has for my peppers?
|Epsom salts is a source of magnesium, which is one of the 16 nutrients that all plants require. Magnesium is required in small amounts (it is a micronutrient) and most soils have sufficient magnesium. However, peppers do seem to thrive with some extra magnesium, so if you want to add some, mix 1 tablespoon of epsom salts with one gallon of water. Spray the foliage with the mix when the plant flowers, or water the plant with it.
