I have had the healthest, greenest lawn up till 2 weeks ago. The lawn is very dry and brown all over. I just had it thatched and airated this past weekend, it gets watered every other day for 5 min around 7am, was fertized about a month ago. What can I do to save it? Thank you, Deb |
Newly de-thatched and aerated lawns can look pretty pathetic for a few weeks, but they should come back with great vigor if you water reguarly, especially if you overseed the entire area with a good quality seed. Lawns remain healthiest when they are watered deeply but infrequently. Instead of teasing it with only a little water every other day, try applying a full inch of water once a week. Sandy soils do not retain water for very long so you may have to soak the lawn twice each week during the hottest part of the year if your soil is extremely sandy. Deep soaking promotes deep root growth which helps the lawn remain green even during droughty conditions. Fertilizing should be done in April, June, September and early December, again to promote deep root growth. Give your lawn a little time to recover and it should come back better than ever. |
