Lily of the valley is a strong grower needing only minimal care, almost to the point of being invasive, in a spot where it is happy. It does best in a moist rich soil in a shady or partly shady spot. It is usually planted as bare pips or as a container plant or as a division from another garden. Water well until it becomes established and as needed to supplement rain and keep the soil moist. If the soil is not naturally rich, apply compost and or a complete fertilizer such as 10-10-10 according to the label in early spring.
