This is my first year planting grasses.I have Maiden, Ravenna and Pampas grasses. All have grown well during the summer. The Maiden and Ravenna have already turned colors for the winter. The 4-ft tall Pampas is still very green and healthy looking. Why have they not yet gone dormant?

West Virginia has not had enough "hard" frosts required to force some plants into dormancy. There really has been only one that could be classified as "hard". Typically in WV, two hard frosts occur by the end of November, but the second may not occur until mid-December.

I would like to hear how the Pampas does...I am in the same state and am considering adding it to my collection. Keep us posted!
