| I planted several dwarf bleeding hearts this spring and the, 6 weeks later, planted more. The first set grew, bloomed and after a month, started to brown and die-back - almost like a bulb - no signs of pest or over or under watering. The second set is still coming up/filling out and it doing just fine. Question: Is this die-back pattern normal or is there something wrong with those plants? Thanks! |
| There are several types of bleeding heart. Dicentra spectabilis normally goes dormant in mid summer, but Dicentra eximia does not. The hybrid D. "Luxuriant" also stays in active growth all summer and will fade away if not provided ample water. |
