I just purchased a teatree plant. Can it remain outside in a pot for the summer and come indoors for the winter? Are there any special requirements for this plant?

Your tea tree (Leptospermum) is native to Australia and New Zealand and grows outdoors only in the warmest winter areas of the U.S. You'll need to protect it from cold winter weather by bringing it indoors in early autumn. Outdoors, provide full sunshine and quick draining soil. Indoors, provide bright light and very little water during the slow-growth period of winter. Take your plant outdoors again in the spring, when nighttime temperatures remain above 50F.
