I need to know if I can prune my azalea bushes. They are very rangy and unsightly. Is it safe to prune and shape them now?

Azalea pruning is generally done in early summer, immediately after the flowers fade. This allows the plant time to produce new flower buds over the summer months for the following spring's flower display. You can prune your azaleas now, but it's a bit late in the season. It won't hurt your plant, but if you prune now you'll sacrifice some of next year's bloom.
