What is the botanical name and care for the 3" pot labeled European Christmas Tree that I bought at WalMart in San Diego, during Thanksgiving-time? I have seen them for the past 5-6 years, sold only at this winter-holiday time. Is it a cedar variety, or a juniper? Thanks for your help! |
The botanical name is Picea pungens `Moerheim`. The catalog describes it as a compact evergreen tree that maintains a symmetrical narrow, conical form holding stiff horizontal branches with dense silvery-blue mature needles. New growth is bright blue. Full sun. Fast-growing to 30 to 50 feet high, 10 to 20 feet wide. Enjoy! |
