I seen one such tree in my town which is about 15 to 20 feet tall and 10 to 15 wide. | There are many varieties of crepe myrtle on the market in all different shades of pink and purply pink. Crepe myrtles can be grown in either a bushy form or in the more tree like form based on several factors. In cold winter areas they may be killed back to the ground periodically and as a result will simply never reach those tree-like proportions. Some varieties are just smaller or dwarf forms and are naturally short. These tend to look better trimmed as shrubs rather than trained as a tree form. Finally, personal preference and the amount of space available will determine to some extent how the plant is handled for shaping. In answer to your more specific question, I would suggest you look at the plants when they are in bloom and select one with both the color and ultimate size potential you have in mind. The main reason I suggest this is that color descriptions are so much in the eye of the beholder! You might wish to consult with your local nurseries and/or extension personnel to see which plants they recommend for having the best results in your area in terms of reliably reaching a good size. Reputable nurseries in your area should carry only varieties they expect to do well in your locale.
