We live in Phoenix and have a side garden that receives morning light and PM shade. We will have some flagstone stepping stones in this area and our looking for a good ground cover that can substitute for grass, look lush and take some light foot traffic. Any ideas?

Alternatives to lawn is one area of the plant palette where we just don't have good choices in the low desert. You can try dichondra, or a creeping thyme, but it may be difficult to get them established and keep them going. Dichondra usually requires consistent moisture.
