I am wanting to plant a "Red Flower" garden this year. I need ideas of what plants to use. This garden will be on the east side of my home next to my water pond. My home is grey with red trim. I am wanting to use different heights in a semi-circle next to my pond. |
There are so many possible plants you could use. Annuals might include red salvia, red snapdragons, red dianthus, red flowered verbena, red petunias, red geraniums, red zinnias, and red begonias. Perennials might include red flowered heuchera or coral bells, red lobelia, red hibiscus such as "Lord Baltimore", red lychnis or Maltese Cross, red daylilies (hemerocallis) and red bee balm. Add a few red gladiolas planted at intervals and some cannas with red blooms and you will have a truly red flowered garden. You could also add some red foliaged plants such as a red leafed barberry (berberis) or red accented caladiums for additional interest. Have fun with your project! |
