It is fine to remove the spent flower from the daffodil stem, but leave the foliage in place until it has naturally yellowed and dried up. If you leave the seed ball in place on the plant, the daffodil may actually set seed and naturalize by seeding and thereby spreading into a larger clump, if it is a variety that naturalizes well. This will divert some energy from the bulb, however. |
