| I live on the river and I need to be able to plant flowers on the edge of the river to camoflauge cattails. at the front of my home is a big flower garden that recieves mostly shade during the day can you recommend plants for these areas please. |
| Some plants for a moist sunny area would include Japanese iris, golden colored hostas, astilbes, beebalm (Monarda), and shrubs such as deciduous hollies (Ilex verticillata), red chokeberry (Aronia arbutifolia) and the shrub dogwoods, some of which have colored twigs. For a shady area you could experiment with hostas (many colors and foliage patterns available), ferns, pulmonaria, Solomon's seal, lamium, sweet woodruff, violets, bleeding heart, and tiarella. Whichever plants you select, make sure the soil is well prepared with ample organic matter. I hope this give syou some ideas. |
