|I have a 1 gallon Waterfal Japanes Maple. The top is about 3 inches higher than the top of the stake, shall I get a longer stake? How long does this tree need to be staked - 3 feet tall now.

|Your tree will ultimately grow 8'-10' tall, but it's a slow-grower and staking it while it's young will help keep the trunk straight. It isn't necessary to replace the stake with a taller one unless the tree is leaning and needs the extra support. Try removing the stake and then watching the growth pattern of the tree. You can always stake it up again if it looks like it need support.
