|I BOUGHT ONE OF YOUR PINK ABELIA PLANTS LAST YEAR AND HAD TO MOVE IT FROM IT'S ORIGINAL PLACE -- WILL IT BLOOM THIS YEAR AND IF SO WHEN WILL IT BLOOM? ALSO DOES IT LIKE TO BE PRUNED AND IF SO WHEN?|
|Abelia grandiflora or glossy abelia blooms on new growth of the season so you may prune it in late winter to early spring. After a tough winter you may find some winter damaged stems and these should be removed by cutting them off at the base. Periodically you should also thin the plant by removing some of the oldest stems again by cutting them off at the base. This will enoucrage vigorous new growth.
I would expect your plant to bloom this summer assuming it is becoming well established in the new location. This plant prefers an evenly moist acid soil in full sun to part shade. Typical bloom time is June through August or so. Enjoy your new plant.
