|What is the difference between wave and tidal wave petunias? I do understand that the tidals are supposed to grow up (22" about) and not spread out like the 'waves', but I cannot find anything marked "tidal wave" at the stores, only the "wave" marker tag. Is it possible that the gardener 'creates' a tidal wave by pinching back a 'wave'? and if so, where are the 'silver' tidal waves that i have been reading about? thank you even more?|
|The Tidal Wave Silver is different from the plain Wave petunias, confusing isn't it! The Tidal Wave Silver can be controlled for height by the distance between plants. If you plant them very close together, say six inches apart, they will grow upward and be tall, up to about three feet. Planted wider, about a foot apart, they will be about two thirds as tall, maybe two feet. They can be planted up to about three feet apart for a lower carpet effect of maybe six inches high. They do not require pinching or deadheading to bloom well. Burpee for example offers both kinds in their current catalog with photos and descriptions. http://www.burpee.com/main.asp
I hope this answers your question.
