My Nishiki willow branches have dried out tips. Should I cut them back and, if so, how much. |
If the tips are truly dead, go ahead and trim them off as you wold any dead or damaged wood. Trimming will cause additional branching from behind the cut, so you may want to trim off a bit more than just the tips, reaching a ways into the shrub, to conceal your work. This will hide the fresh cuts and also help the branching look more natural later, rather than leaving obvious trimmed spots. |
