Anisodontea, the Cape Mallow, is a fast growing evergreen shrub, growing best in full sun or light afternoon shade, in average, dry soil. Your plant will bloom profusely if you cut back the stems periodically to encourage new flowering shoots. Fertilize in the early spring and again in mid-summer, using a balanced all-purpose garden fertilizer. Broadcast granular fertilizer in the amounts recommended on the label and scratch it lightly into the soil. Then water it in well. If you prefer a liquid fertilizer, dilute according to label directions and apply every 3-4 weeks during the spring and summer months. Enjoy your cape mallow!
