| How much sun do everblooming roses need daily. My propery has many trees, and the sun where I want to plant only get about 5 hours a day. July and August are really hot and humid, is this enough sun to get blooms. |
| Roses are really sun lovers and the rule of thumb is six hours of good sun a day including the hour of noon; on the other hand, in a hot climate where there is a long growing season and lots of bright sunny days during the summer, sometimes five hours can be enough. You might want to experiment with a few plants before investing in a large number of them, just to see how they will do. Also, although not everblooming, many of the old fashioned shrub roses are more shade tolerant than the modern hybrid teas, for example. Another aspect to keep in mind as well is that tree roots can present some serious competition for roses, so try to locate them in an area that is relatively root free. Good luckw ith your roses! |
