|I have a Monrovia Red Leaf Banana Tree purchased from a nursery in Olympia "The Barn". The 2nd leaf that unfurled
has brown spots that are tissue thin. The 3rd leaf that is
just emerging has trouble unfurling due to these tissue thin
brown spots. Could you please advise what would cause this,
since I have only had this plant for two weeks.
|Plants of the cultivated banana (Musa) are subject to a number of bacterial and fungal diseases. The paper-thin tissue indicates a disease, or a reaction to cold weather. Why not take a sample of the problem to your local Cooperative Extension office for positive identification? Contact WSU Extension at (206) 296-3900 and the friendly folks will help diagnose the problem and give you some control strategies. Best wishes with your plant!|
