|Can you PLEASE tell me (we just built a new home and I am VERY new at this). Do Weigela's, Goldflame Spirea's, and Potentilla's have to be in the sunlight all day long? I was planning on putting them in the front of our home where the sun only shines in the morning until about 10am... then they would be in the shade the rest of the day. IS THIS OK???
Thank you - Shelly (I appreciate your response)
|Unfortunately, the plants you named would not be happy in that kind of a location. They really do need sunlight with all day being best or else at least five or six hours of full strong sun including the hour of noon. This means all morning long or all afternoon. You might want to look into plants such as Euonymus fortunei, azalea, rhododendron and other shade tolerant shrubs instead. Further out from the house you could plant the sun lovers, out where they will get the sun they need. Good luck with your landscaping!
