Dwarf Alberta Spruce? - Knowledgebase Question

My trees which had been in the same containers for two years suddenly turned brown and died. Watering was consistent throughout and spider mites were absent. I also tried changing the soil but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Without examining the plants it is difficult to make a guess as to what happened. However, it is frequently true that plants in containers become stressed over time and the cumulative effect can take its toll. Sometimes, too, repotting can shock them, or sometimes the roots fail to move out into the new soil and thus ultimately encircle themselves so tightly that the plant strangles itself for lack of a better term. Another possibility is that the new soil mix drained at a different speed than the original mix so that your watering was not as consistent as you thought it was. I'm really sorry about your little trees.
