I would like to plant a 150 foot long by 10 foot wide row of about 3 different types of rapid growing full, bushy, evergreen tree/shrub of graduated heights 60-40/40-20/20-10 to create a full thick screen/hedge. The area is a south property line that gets fairly good sun in Shelton Wa. Zone 8. |
Suggestions for the taller specimens include Calocedrus decurens (incense cedar), Chamaecyparis lawsoniana (Port Orford Cedar), or Cupressus (cypress). These conifers are evergreen and do not require shearing to maintain their shape. Mid-sized evergreens such as Thuja (arborvitae) or columnar Junipers will complement the taller trees. You can finish off the project with shorter hedging shrubs such as Berberis (Barberry), Salal, Privet, or evergreen huckleberry (Vaccinium ovatum). Good luck with your landscaping project! |
