I successfully propagated two of three crepe myrtles softwood cuttings...They have put out new growth approximately 12-15 inches...two on each plant. Do I need to prune these to make it more bushy or leave them as they are? |
Pruning would stimulate additional growth. However, since these plants are somewhat prone to winter damage and it is already late July, I would suggest leaving them as is for now, but pruning back hard next spring (the usual pruning time for crepe myrtle) to induce additional sprouts from the base then. This way, growth made this year will have ample time to harden off before winter. Congratulations on your success. |
