What is the best way to support young trees so they grow straight? |
In most cases, trees will grow straight all by themselves without any support. For many years it was standard practice to stake newly planted trees, but research has shown that it is not usually the best thing to do. They seem to grow sturdier and root better without being staked. The rare exceptions to this is if they are in danger of being stolen or are particularly top heavy and planted in a very windy location. |
