As the flower on a Geranium dies, just how do you dispose of wilted part? at the top or down where flower stem juts out from plant.

You cut the base of the flower stem where it juts out from the plant, a scant quarter inch above the join and just above a leaf. This way, you avoid leaving bare tips of stem sticking up above the foliage.
