Tree To Hide Telephone Pole - Knowledgebase Question

We are redoing our backyard and need suggestions for a tree to hide a telephone pole in the rear corner of the yard. We previously had a Brisbane Box there but it was very straggly. Our lot and the lots surrounding us are average
city lots so we don't want something huge. We would prefer a non-deciduous tree but not a cypress type.

The trees recommended by utility companies are rather small at maturity so their branches will not interfere with telephone and power lines. Their list of suggestions for evergreens includes Juniperus virginiana 'Burkii' (20' high), 'Canaertii' (30'), 'Glauca' (20'), and 'Hillii' (20'). Picea glauca 'densata' (Black Hills Spruce) has a narrow, dense habit and grows to 20'. Thuja occidentalis 'Techny' has a slow growth rate to 20'.

Hope these suggestions help you choose just the right tree.
