The two plants vary somewhat in overall size and coloring, as well as in winter hardiness. Of the two, only the Ligustrum sinense 'Variegatum' has a chance of doing well for you. It is the hardier of the two, rated hardy into zone 7, withstanding cold to between zero and ten degrees. You might want to consult with your local professionally trained nursery staff and see how they expect it to do in the particular site you have in mind. The more sheltered the site, the better it could possibly do for you.
