Hot Tub Screen - Knowledgebase Question

I have a 4 ft wide by 10 ft long strip of soil between my wire fence and new hot tub which is on a cement pad. I want to plant something that will screen the hot tub but will not be invasive or get too wide. There are currently climbing roses on the fence but they do not make a complete visual barrier. The area gets sun until about 4:00 PM. Any suggestions?

In a full sun exposure you can expect dense growth from Lonicera (honeysuckle), Fallopia baldschuanica (lace vine), Gelsemium sempervirens (Carolina jessamine), Lapageria rosea (Chilean Bellflower), Milletia reticulata (evergreen wisteria), and Trachelospermum (star jasmine). If you're more interested in shrubs for a screen, try Thuja occidentalis (American Arborvitae). These are fast-growing evergreen shrubs about 10' tall and 3' wide. Enjoy your new hot tub!
