I planted a butterfly bush in November. For the winter should I cut it back? Is this necessary in the climate we live in? Is it to late to cut it back if necessary?

Butterfly Bush, also known as Buddleia Davidii, blooms on new growth. Therefore, stems should be pruned back to 1-2 ft. in early spring to encourage large, lush flower spikes. In my area, Zone 6, I always prune back my Butterfly Bush on St. Patrick's Day.
